I always get a little nervous shooting mine and Farrah’s close friends, and going into this one was no different. Kati, David, Farrah and I have been hanging out since our, ah, “Rebel” days - so I knew I had to deliver the goods - otherwise they could show up at my house and thrash me.

It was a really beautiful wedding at First Christian Church in Monroe, which I had never gotten to shoot before. Big stained glass windows in the sanctuary let me get the coolest kiss shot ever!

For the reception, we headed over to the Vantage Building, which was pretty amazing. After the cake cutting and food, it was business time. What followed was the most energetic, happy, and fun reception I’ve ever been to. Without question, people came to celebrate, and do it proper.

Long, long after my coverage ended, the party was raging. I had actually packed my gear up, but I couldn’t help myself - I kept shooting stuff with Farrah’s little point and shoot camera because great stuff was happening. I even made a video, which I might post here……………

Kati and David, congrats. Your wedding was a blast.

Ah, what a fun shoot. After getting pretty ill about two hours before our shoot (thanks Chili’s!), the sky opened up and we ended up rained out regardless. We rescheduled for the next morning, and even though I felt a little woozy, Rochelle and I knocked out a killer bridal session.

I actually shot Ryan and Rochelle’s wedding last night. It was a beautiful ceremony, I can’t wait to get those on the blog. Lots of stuff coming up, so stay tuned!

For Rochelle and Ryan’s engagement shoot I headed down to their town, Baton Rouge. We shot all around the LSU campus, which was really cool. I’m shooting the wedding this weekend in Ruston. Rochelle’s bridal session is going up on the blog tomorrow, so be sure to check back!

I’ve added a neat little feature to the blog. Over on the bottom of the sidebar, I’ve added a window where you can see what I’m doing during the day. It pulls the info from my Twitter profile, and posts it here on my blog for everyone to see.

I’ll post lots of fun stuff there - what I’m working on for clients, what/where I’m shooting, and stuff like that. So anytime you drop by the blog, scroll down and check out what I’ve got going on!

Next post will be images, I promise.

Great news - I’ve been nominated for The News Star/Delta Style Best of the Delta competition. It’s a great idea - everyone in the Monroe and West Monroe areas get to vote on their favorite businesses and vendors.

I am very honored just to have been nominated - there are some great photographers to choose from. I would absolutely love to get your vote, and be voted Best of the Delta.

If you are going to vote, you must vote in at least 12 different categories for your vote to count. Be sure to pick at least 12! The deadline for the voting is July 13th.

To quote a great movie, Vote for me, and all of your wildest dreams will come true……

I have known these two for the majority of my life. As youngsters, Ben and I used to dominate as the most prolific quarterback/wide out duo in Mrs. D’s Daycare football history. Rachal is one of my Farrah’s dearest friends, and our big group of friends has had some incredible times over the years. When I got the news that these two were engaged, I actually emailed Rachal immediately and told her no matter what, I wanted to shoot her wedding. It was in rather poor taste, but I couldn’t help myself - I wanted to be a part of their day.

I had a great time - it was a really relaxed, beautiful day. Rachal and Ben are really low key, which put me at ease while I was doing my job. It was great you two - here’s to next time when we get to hang out.

This shoot was obviously very easy! I’ve known Rachal for a very, very long time, and known her fiance (now husband!) Ben even longer. It’s great to shoot your friends - we just hung out and happened to snap some killer photos.

I shot Rachal and Ben’s wedding just a few days after these were taken, which will be on the blog super soon.

Thanks for getting in that tall grass Rachal - I hope the red bugs/ticks weren’t too bad…..

When Kati and I were planning for her bridal session, she decided that she wanted the location to be Beidenhorn Gardens. I thought that would be a fun challenge for me, as Beidenhorn is typically a very traditional spot for shooting. Kati and I wanted to a mix of both - to work in some of the garden’s traditional history, and of course try to pepper in some of my more contemporary style.

I pushed the absolute limits of the time constraints (sorry Beidenhorn folks!) and we were able to get some great stuff.

Last weekend I travelled to Marshall, TX to shoot Krystl and Joe’s wedding. I really enjoy being around these two, they are both so laid back and super nice. I loved the old Edsel car they had to take them from the ceremony to the reception. After we shot for a minute, we had to head to the reception, and I was following in my car. I got that beautiful view - the newly married couple experiencing their first ride together - en route to a party where friends and family were waiting to celebrate with them. I had to shoot it, so I pulled my camera up to my eye while driving down the road, and fired away.

Of course I almost crashed my car in the process.

Worth it.

Great moment that I’m glad I was able to capture.

I’m honored to have photos from Katie’s great bridal session be the first on my new blog. I can’t think of a better way to get the new blog kicked off right. This session was as easy as they come - absolutely gorgeous bride, great weather, and some really cool spots to shoot. Katie and her family are seriously the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, which always makes things that much better!
